Hey bbs!
Happy Summer Solstice! As many of you know, summer is my favorite season. I am a generally better version of myself when the temperature is above 75 degrees. I’m happy, worry less, walk more, lull in parks or on stoops or rooftops, and allow spontaneity to plan the social calendar. Honestly, wherever the day and night take me, I’ll follow…especially if it includes oysters, Aperol spritzes, and a table outside. I love driving home at night, slightly buzzed in the back of the Uber, with the windows down and the warm air blowing in my face after a full day outside. I love tan lines and summer anthems and lying on a beach somewhere in the middle of the afternoon, guilt-free, because life is meant to be lived. I love eating fried fish–or really any fish at all–next to a body of water. And I even appreciate the rare evening that I’m inside, and summer television is still rolling out solid content. I love seeing summer blockbusters in a very cold theater on the hottest day of the year. I also feel I have a much stronger spring/summer wardrobe, so the ‘fits are always slapping.
And I ofc love making my way to the airport to fly off to a beautiful place for a break from the sizzling city. Traveling has become such a passion for me that it’s practically like an art. I just find that seeing a new perspective on how life is lived just a few hours away is such an important TK. While I am still a horrible overpacker, I have at least learned what to take with me, why Global Entry is so important, and how to plan a big trip with your besties. So before take off, I am here to share the secrets and lessons I’ve learned along the way on my adventures. Let’s get into it, shall we?
HOW DO YOU PACK FOR TRAVELING?
So yes, I’m a horrible over-packer. I wish I were that girl that could take two pairs of shoes, two dresses, and a tank top in ONE bag and be good for a two-week vacation, but I’m no Joan Didion. I need options; I want to be prepared for whatever the day brings, whether it’s an impromptu party, a change in temperature, or a shoe dilemma. This does not mean that I’m unorganized, though. Hardly. I actually moodboard my outfits out and what I plan to pack. It’s probably the very Virgo side of my brain that makes me want to collate my lewks, but also, it’s so inspiring and fun. It gets me even more excited about a getaway, and I can start to visualize what I already have and what I’m missing.
